Lived Experience and Carer Representatives provide a valuable contribution to the services that Grand Pacific Health (GPH) provides. Their experience and interest in the health and wellbeing of their community is important to improving the work we do.
We are always looking for ways to increase the voice of lived and carer experience at all levels of our organisation.
We are now seeking representatives to try-out being part of our Quality Committee, so we can discover whether this is a meaningful way to involve lived experience perspectives into this important part of our work.
About our Quality Committee
The GPH Quality Committee includes clinical and management representatives from across our clinical and corporate services.
The Committee provides operational oversight and leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of our clinical governance systems and processes.
The agenda of the Quality Commitee covers our six primary domains of quality and safety, which align with the National Safety and Quality Health Care Standards and Aged Care Quality Standards. They are:
- Leadership, Governance and Culture
- Clinical Performance and Effectiveness
- Workforce Responsiveness
- Consumer Safety and Quality Systems
- Risk Management
- Safe Environment for the Delivery of Healthcare
The Quality Committee is responsible for working with clinical services to define performance indicators for each of the domains. These will enable ongoing monitoring and improvement of the quality and safety of our services.
The representative role
As a lived experience or carer representative, you will participate in meetings of the Quality Committee, with a focus on sharing your own perspectives and giving voice to the needs of people accessing our services.
The Quality Committee meets on Tuesdays every two months for up to 2 hours, during business hours.
There is an option to dial-in to meetings from home, or travel to your nearest GPH location.
You will be paid for your time attending meetings, as well as for two-hours of preparation time, to read meeting papers before each meeting.
During the trial period
As a new initiative, we are keen to make sure that this is a meaningful and authentic way for people with lived and carer experience to be part of the Quality Committee.
As part of our trial group, you will not only take part in meetings but will also give us feedback on how this involvement felt to you and how we can make sure that representatives in this committee are heard and supported.
Each participant will join two meetings of the Quality Commitee, until the end of 2025. After this point, we will come together to discuss how you found this experience and any ways it could be improved.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for four people to be part of our trial group and join meetings of the Quality Committee. We are seeking people who:
- Have a lived/living or carer experience of mental health, suicide, drug and/or alcohol concerns.
- Live in Grand Pacific Health's catchment area.
- Can understand and interpret high-level information in a business setting.
- Have some previous experience with being part of committees.
- Are available to attend two meetings (during business hours on Tuesdays) between September and December 2025
How you will be supported
We want this to be a positive experience for all our representatives.
Before attending meetings, you will attend a paid briefing session which will share more information about the Quality Committee and the role of our representatives. All representatives are asked to sign a Code of Conduct and complete some registration forms to ensure you can receive payment for your time.
Your contact from GPH is available to support you during your participation and assist with answering any questions or preparing for meetings.
Each meeting will have two representatives participating and you will be offered the opportunity to connect and discuss how your participation felt and any questions you may have after each meeting.
