Thanks for your interest in being part of leading activities to connect and support the Peer Workforce across Murrumbidgee!

A key aim of the Murrumbidgee Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Alliance Lived Experience, Peer and Carer Network is to create opportunities for Peer Workers across our region to connect, participate in shared learning and strengthen their professional support networks.

We know how important it is that initiatives for Peer Workers are led by Peer Workers, so we are forming a Working Group to help design and deliver these activities.

What's involved

Members of the Peer Network Working Group are expected to take an active role in developing and delivering a program of activities for members of the Murrumbidgee Peer Work Network.

This includes attendance at a monthly one-hour meeting to plan and set priorities, as well as assisting with activities such as:

  • Organising a calendar of networking events
  • Leading an online Peer Work Community of Practice
  • Identifying other opportunities for connection and professional supports such as Peer Supervision, Co-reflection and online spaces
  • Guiding and recommending other Peer Work initiatives to address identified priorities

Two members of the Peer Network Working Group will also be invited to participate in monthly meetings of the Lived Experience, Peer and Carer Network Steering Committee. These representatives will share updates on work and recommendations of the Peer Network Working Group.

The draft Terms of Reference is available below (for final review and endorsement by the Working Group once formed).

How Working Group members will be selected

We will be looking for Working Group members from a range of Peer Work perspectives, organisations, service settings and locations and will aim to form a group which represents the diversity of Peer Work in our region. We are particularly interested in hearing from people with experience in delivering activities relevant to the aims of the Working Group.

You are welcome to apply individually, but if you are part of a large Peer Work team in your service/organisation, you may like to discuss with your colleagues who you would like to represent the needs of Peer Workers in your team and encourage them to apply.

If you are not selected to join this time, there will be future opportunities to be part of the Working Group and activities delivered by the group will be open to all members of the Peer Network.
