Our Lived Experience, Peer and Carer Network project aims to increase the inclusion of carers and people with lived/living experience in the design, delivery and evaluation services in the Murrumbidgee region. Through this, we hope to create a more inclusive, person-centred, and effective mental health and drug and alcohol system for our communities.
Our Network is unique because it brings together organisations across our region to share participation opportunities with our Network. This means that people with lived/living or carer experience don't have to register with many separate organisations in order to find out how they can contribute to feedback and improvement activities.
Members can choose what they take part in and how they share their expertise, in a way that is meaningful and comfortable to them.
Nurturing the Peer Workforce
Some people choose to utilise their lived/living or carer expertise by working in mental health, drug or alcohol services. As part of this project, we want to create pathways for people with lived/living experience to start a career in Peer Work, building on their own skills and readiness and contributing to the growth of this vital workforce.
This extends to existing Peer Workers, who will be given more opportunities to connect with each other and take part in skills development, no matter which organisation they work for.
